A DFG SPP 2037 Project

Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Kapitza is a professor at the Technische Universität Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig. There he leads the Distributed Systems Group of the Institute of Operating Systems and Computer Networks since January, 2012. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Erlangen- Nuremberg in 2001 and 2007, respectively. From 2007 until 2011 he led the Distributed Systems Group at the Department of Computer Sciences 4, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, as assistant professor. Since his time as PhD student he has lead project work at the national level. First in the DFG-funded AspectIX project, next shortly after finishing his PhD as a principal investigator in REFIT, DanceOS, and recently BATS. DanceOS is a project of the DFG priority program 1500 with multiple partners, whereas BATS is an interdisciplinary research group composed of researchers from computer sciences, electrical engineering, and biology. At the EU-level he leads TUB in the Horizon2020 project SERECA. Rüdiger Kapitza is author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, steering committee member of the IFIP DAIS conference, program committee member of numerous venues including IEE EDCC, ACM/Usenix Middleware and ACM EuroSys.
Nico Weichbrodt has been working as a research assitant in the group of Rüdiger Kapitza since the start of 2016. He obtained his M.Sc in computer science also at TUB. He is currently working on his PhD inside the STAN project and is responsible for the SGX side of things.
Dr. Vasily Sartakov received an Engineering degree from the Cybernetic department of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (former Moscow Engineering Physics Institute). Also, he received a Master degree from the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) of High School of Economics (HSE). Since the beginning of 2017, he has been working as a researcher at the Institute for Operating Systems and Computer Networks of Braunschweig University of Technology. Prior to joining the IBR, he was leading the R&D company "ksys labs" for 6 years which was involved in various research and development projects in the area of microkernel operating systems. Also, within his career, he was part of the R&D team of RTSoft (a major contractor of MontaVista), EBookapplications (startup in an area of electronic book readers) and various another R&D companies and projects hosted in Moscow.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Leich is professor at the Harz University of Applied Sciences for business informatics and requirements engineering. In his research, he focuses on software product lines, in particular requirements engineering, variable data management, feature-oriented and aspect-oriented programming, and corresponding tool support. Furthermore, he does research in the field of security in digital dactyloscopy. He received his M.Sc in business informatics in 2002 and Ph.D in 2012 at the University of Magdeburg.
Sebastian Krieter is working as a research assistant for Thomas Leich at the Harz University of Applied Sciences since 2017 and is currently a PhD student at the Database and Software Engineering working group of Gunter Saake at the University of Magdeburg. In 2015 he obtained his M.Sc in computer science at the University of Magdeburg and since then has focused his research on software product lines and variability management.
Tobias Thiem is a student assistant at the Harz University of Applied Sciences. He is currently writing his master’s thesis in the context of the project. In particular, he is interested in the field of software product lines and database systems.
